Mamut

Mamut is a Croatian alternative metal band from Rijeka, established in 2017. That same year, the band released their debut EP titled “Freak Show”. Over the next couple of years, Mamut underwent several lineup changes and navigated various experimental phases in search of their dissonant core. In 2019, they released their second EP “Mrtvi Idoli”, initiating their delve into Nietzschean themes.

In October 2021, Mamut unveiled their studio debut “Nihilist” via the Snaga Records label, a newly-founded subsidiary of Više Manje Zauvijek, an independent music label. Reflecting the symptomatic states of nihilism and cynicism that pervade our lives, the core themes of the songs aim to mirror this and tie it in with the empowering philosophies of Nietzsche and Kierkegaard. Mamut wishes to convey to listeners that they are not alone in feelings of worthlessness, and that they possess the power to question, destroy, and create within themselves. “Nihilist” received high critical acclaim, especially from Balkanrock, one of the biggest regional music portals, as well as from the audience. Supporting the album, Mamut went on tour and had their first sold-out shows outside of Rijeka. The band is currently working on a successor to “Nihilist” and planning new ventures into the regional metal underground.
